Meet Oakley

I’m sitting upstairs in the office, doing homework when I hear Adam’s voice in the hallway, “Look what I’ve gotttt.” He opens the door, the wheels on my chair turn and to my surprise, an adorable ball of yellow fur is nozzled in Adam’s chest. Here are some quick pictures we took from the first week we had him and he’s already gotten bigger! My intention was to make this a longer post, giving the complete details, but couldn’t keep it inside anymore so I’ll save it for next time. All in all, we didn’t expect to keep him, but how can you deny those puppy eyes? His name is Oakley, and he’s a wonderful handful!

Yeah, he’s peeing. Adam was proud of that stance…

David & Emily {Engagement}

Meeting David and Emily just got better and better as they day went on.  We not only got to learn about how their relationship began but also had the opportunity to get some shots at some of the places in Rochester, MI. When we first asked them about any locations they had in mind, one of them included “Senior Living Community“. Senior Living? We quite interested to hear about how that one came to play. Turns out that they both worked there at the age of 16. Now grown up, attended separate colleges and  more in love than ever. Emily in fact still works for the Senior Living Community and has a strong passion for it.

How they met:

Emily:

I was 16. He was a dishwasher at Sunrise and the cutest guy I’d ever seen:)I remember asking him what school he went to (I assumed he HAD to be in college if he looked that good!) and when he said Stoney Creek High I nearly dropped my tray of dirty dishes (something that, for those of you who know what a klutz I am, understand that would not be unusual for me). We would chat at work a bit, but after a few weeks, I started to lose hope. Then one day, holding a tray of coffee cups, he offered to take me to a movie. I later overheard him singing country music into his mop and that was it – I was officially won over. 7 years later, I’m as crazy about him as ever and SO excited to become his wife!

David:

I started working at Sunrise my junior year of high school.   I met Emily a few days later when the scheduled had us on the same shift.  At first she seemed extremely shy, but after we worked together a few times she became my favorite person to work with.  I could tell immediately that she loved her job and that she was one of the most caring people I have ever met, not to mention extremely pretty.  From there on we started to have numerous funny and memorable times at sunrise.  As time went on we got to know each other better and better and I finally got the courage to ask her out.  She said YES and our relationship has continued to grow since.

Nova Snow {Newborn}

I’ve known Brandon and Kacie together from the beginning of their relationship from way back when and its been so great to see how far they have come and how happy they are. Emma, Bella, Mya, and now Nova, four beautiful girls with such fun personalities. Nova sure has come home to unconditional love and it’s been a blessing to be a part of it, she’s so delicate and precious. Special thank you to my mom, Dee, (who also has a huge weakness for little ones) for coming along, helping out, and having a good time. Also, a special thanks to Liz Bartle for being so gracious in letting me use her headbands!

Everyone was patiently waiting, but little Nova was getting a little too comfy so Kacie had to get induced making for a long night, and she took it like a champ (ofcoarse, she’s a Putman).

Tyler & Lisa {Engagement & Wedding}

Today we are combining a late November engagement session in Michigan with this years March wedding in Indiana, so you all have a lot to check out. Tyler and Lisa are such a wonderful couple. They are so much fun and I think it is clearly evident that they really enjoy each other, that they are so happy. In fact, I bet you just might have a smile on your face by the time you get to the end. That’s what they do, Tyler and Lisa, make you smile. Let’s begin with how they met…

As told by Lisa.

“We met at work…we both work in the ER.  Three separate people suggested we would be a good match and so I started paying more attention to Tyler (I didn’t know him  very well before that).  He seemed super nice and so I worked up the courage to ask him out……I had to ask 3 times before he accepted!! He claims he didn’t know I was asking him on dates! We have only been apart for a week since then when he traveled to Japan for Indy Car.”

First comes love, (and an engagement session) then comes MARRIAGE!

Earlier in the day,  the weather was questionable with rain, wind, and lightening as Adam and I mentioned in our cheesy clip from on our way down, but thankfully that wasn’t the case for the wedding day. It was only a tad windy  making it pretty bitter cold but Lisa was so happy and the fact that it was her wedding day, she could only feel warmth.

Tyler and Lisa chose to do a “first look” giving them a moment to really enjoy seeing each other and to react in a personal, intimate way.

This chocolate/peanut butter cupcake was so incredibly delicious and was quite a hit as Lisa mentions. I’m getting cravings looking at it!

Such an adorable couple with their love still strong.

We had such a wonderful time! Cheers to your new journey!

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Lisa: Seeing Tyler for the first time….we had only been apart for a few hours, but it was a lot of build up!
Tyler: Seeing Lisa for the first time.

Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Lisa: I loved having all photos done before the ceremony.  It gets rid of the lag time (and anxiety about fitting everything in) between the ceremony and reception. That way your guests can go straight to celebrating and you can join them!
Tyler: Hire good people who know what they are doing…..it relieves a lot of worry and stress if you trust everyone who is helping you.  Don’t think you can do it all yourself.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Lisa:  Belting out Broadway showtunes with all the bridesmaids before walking down the aisle.

Tyler:  The groomsman who didn’t know he was in the wedding (even though he had been officially asked twice)……called one hour before and still arrived on time!

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Lisa: Order more Bart Simpson cupcakes (chocolate peanut butter) and less carrot cake cupcakes. =)

Tyler:  Nothing

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Turtle Island, Fiji

Ron & Kelly {Engagement}

Once again we lucked out with the weather.  Just two days before Ron and Kelly made the long drive from Kalamazoo it was 40 and sunny.  The night before our planned winter engagement shoot the temps dropped into the single digits and four inches of snow fell.  Thank you Mother Nature!

E-Harmony scores again!  Three years ago Ron and Kelly met through E-Harmony and are finally tying the knot!
